Description
I recently spent a few nights at the El Tropicano Hotel on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. This historic hotel built in 1962 was unique in many ways including some of its permanent residents. One of these is "Ricky" the toucan who resides in a large atrium in the center of the hotel with his buddy a huge tortoise named "Speedy". This beautiful bird was very friendly and good enough to pose for several photos that I used for reference for this watercolor pencil work.
The original is a small 6"x9" piece on 140 lb. watercolor bond.
