Description
This square format section of my original watercolor painting called PRESERVING THE HARVEST (also in this gallery) is a typical scene in many Southern Ontario farms.
The open farmhouse kitchen window welcomes the fresh autumn orchard air that mingles with lingering sweet cooking smells after canning jars of home-made fruit preserves. Beyond the lace curtain, a tangle of bittersweet vine with clusters of red and orange berries are a cheerful reflection of the warmth of colorful jars of peaches, pears and apple jelly. One special jar has been carefully and lovingly decorated with ribbon and lace doily - a gift from the heart for a special friend.
