Description
Located in the southern part of New Mexico, Carlsbad Caverns is an series of underground caves. In 1923, the first offcial survey and mapping of cavern, performed by Robert Holly of General Land Office which led to the creation by President Calvin Coolidge, of the Carlsbad Cave National Monument using the Antiquities Act. In 1995 Carlsbad Caverns National Park is designated a United Nations Educational, Scientifc and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. Here are reflections of an underground pool of water which has collected from above ground rainwater. This rainwater is what forms the stalactites and stalagmites. Your trip to the center of the earth is so very interesting and beautiful, that, once you are under the ground, you quickly forget how far into the earth you really are
