Art Prints And Framed Prints Only - Can I Delete Everything Else, E.g Posters, Canvas, Metal, Wood?

Hi there! Brand spanking new here, and appreciate any help. I'm trying to keep things to a minimum, and offer select sizes only, in art prints and framed prints only. I would prefer not to sell metal, wood, canvas, posters, etc.

I know how to leave a markup field blank for other products so they don't show up, but, within the category of art, is it possible to cherry pick the type? How do I delete everything but art prints and framed prints from showing up in my shop?

I searched the discussion and wow, there is a lot of knowledge here. I look forward to learning and hopefully helping out here as I'm able. Thanks in advance.

All the prints are all in one group. You can limit to just prints, and certain size prints. But you have to sell all substrates. I've asked to be able to drop lines myself, but maybe it will be added in the future.

Got it, thanks very much Mike, that helps me. I am not fond of the overwhelm this causes so I will have to rethink this. Seriously I've had buyers tell me they gave up because they couldn't figure out what 'background' to order...

Grateful to know for sure and so quickly.

I don’t understand why a buyer would give up because they couldn’t decide whether to order a framed print or a canvas etc. I have never had anyone tell me that. Every product has a description underneath it to explain how it is made.

I sell a lot if canvas and metal prints as well as art prints and framed prints. Even if we had the option not to sell them I would not want to loose those sales.

Why would you want to limit your sales?
Some people rather have a canvas, others love postcards. Would you like it if a burger store dropped the fries because it is too much?
No extra work for you but choices for customers

Have you ever seen a menu with 20 burgers on it and said forget it? Like that. ☺️

These aren't burgers and customers like the choice

I suspect someone that gets scared off by choice isn't that interested to begin with. Red Robin used to be one of my favorite restaurants because of the variety of burgers they had available. :)

If you're dealing with someone directly, you can link them to the /art url and that will show them the wall print options only.

Interesting that you have this debate but then you only posted one image - with one image alone nobody will find you here - so what is it that makes you so overwhelmed?

You will always have confused customers, but not that many are confused. If they get confused just tell them to leave it on default, or choose something that doesn't need a mat. A plain poster, canvas, acrylic or metal makes it easy to hang something. Or just use canvas so everything looks like a painting. You will have the same confusion on any site, because customers needs choices. Just let them take their time.

I used to think having to much variety would make it hard for buyers to choose. But I've had many contact me asking if I had a specific photo they liked in say a different format (for example, a horizontal photo they want as a vertical photo or a square) or they wanted a different angle of the same subject, or a black and white photo of a color one, ect. Since FAA added the custom cropping, I've sold many images that the client cropped to a different format. Sometimes it's not what I would have done and wish they would have contacted me so I could have helped them out with a better one, but that's what the client wanted.

When it comes to art, variety is typically a good thing.
