I have no formal training in art. I have worked primarily in the educational field. I began to create art after traveling around the world. This opened my eyes to a greater aesthetic perception. Artists who only have lived in the USA are limiting themselves to possibilities of objective content.

Although most art posted by artists in FAA could be described as the 2D rendering of the aesthetic perception of the surface appearance of objects and scenes, I strive to create art that imparts some meaning beyond the depiction or subjective interpretation of externality. The human being feels safe with the known. As all humans start life with the familiar, so must an artist. Whether we know it or not, we are documentarians and commentators of our time and place. We give our personal perception to the world around us. And there is great value in that. My earlier work exemplifies that and I continue to do that.

But if we never venture beyond the culturally and geographically-prescribed scenery, modes of expression or even traditional methods, our art will only get the attention of those who have also never progressed beyond the given. An ideal artist should embrace the unknown and experiment. Isn't that the history of art? The most notable artists of the past were all innovators in some way. To make your mark in art requires courage. Life is short. Don't miss your opportunity to shine.

For me, art is not merely an exercise in aesthetic appreciation. Art is about the exploration of the soul. It is more than therapy. It is a revelation of the self.

My artistic style varies quite a bit. My collection categories are largely defined by artistic method, with a few exceptions. All my photo work shown is original or has been digitally modified from my original photos unless otherwise stated. I hold the copyright for the same. Recently I have been experimenting in the abstract realms of digital painting and acrylic painting.

My work is duplicated on three sites: tim-richards.pixels.com, fineartamerica.com/profiles/tim-richards.html, and pixels.com/profiles/tim-richards.html. You can also check out my work and favorite art on http://www.pinterest.com/ETransformation, i.e. my collection of art: 'ad ven tures in art'. If you are a professional interior designer or art dealer, you may purchase my work on designerprints.com.

If you wish to purchase an image but wish to fit it into a standard frame, send me a personal email from this site (the button is right above this About) and I will send you a sample and then post the re-dimensioned piece on FAA.

A few of my pieces have integral simulated canvas texture painted in. A fine textured or no texture substrate may be better suited for these works.

Keep in mind that a purchased item will not include the 'Fine Art America' watermark. Your printed image will be clear and devoid of imperfections such as haloing and chromatic aberration and will of course be printed at a much higher resolution as shown on your monitor. Also, keep in mind that any image you purchase will be printed on a textured material (even metal prints and glossy paper have a specific sheen!). That is why you do not see evidence of print material on the image as presented on this site. Just need a sheen, try the metallic print. If you simply wish a little texture, try the textured paper. For heavy texturing, go for the canvas. There is plenty of advice on the web if you are uncertain what substrate to choose. You should check out the Variations Gallery to see if there other versions of an image you are interested in, as I often make several versions.

As of September 2019, 65% of my images have been featured in FAA groups. A featured image is an image favorably selected by an FAA group administrator and appears on the group home page.

I have also placed in many FAA member group contests, as follows:
