What I do.
Most people struggle to find the right painting for their home, especially if they are looking for something of value that speaks to them.
I create paintings that are meaningful and stand the test of time. Paintings to fall in love with. Paintings you will want to live with.
Why do I paint?
I enjoy painting and creating images that people can connect with, and I am grateful that I can follow my passion and earn a living doing something I enjoy. In this way I can express myself. It is something I can share. A finished painting gives me a sense of accomplishment, a sense of pride.
How do I find my subject matter?
My artwork is strongly influenced by my upbringing
As a kid I used to peel the posters off the wall at my local underground station in London. I would take books from the library and photocopy all the
pictures that spoke to me.
What has always inspires me are the Noir black and white movies, featuring Humphrey Bogart as a private Eye, and the style of the
movies like Out Of The Past, Gilda, The Big Sleep and of course Casablanca just to name a few.
My paintings are composed like a cinematic still and often use my local environment as a setting.
I use cinematic camera angles, dramatic lighting, shadows, suits, hats, trench coats, rain, wind, mysterious figures, femme fatales. All these elements help to create the mood and atmosphere and nostalgia in my paintings. Paintings to fall in love with.
