Shirley's work evolved from a rich background of realism in her drawing and large oils. Today she translates her love for textures, music, nature, light and colour through mixed media and rich, soft pastels in a form of abstract representation.

This crossover from pictorial realism to what it is today happened while visiting Nez Perce country in northern USA, in the late 80s. She brought home with her a spiritual connection to her art which changed her life in every aspect and set her on a journey which she continues today.

Shirley was born in Montreal, Quebec where she studied Fine Arts for two years while in her teens. She completed her studies in British Columbia after four years at Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design (formerly known as Vancouver School of Art). She completed her BFA at the University of Victoria in British Columbia while studying psychology.

Shirley's inspiration now includes the rich textures of nature and the wide expansive environment of Saskatchewan prairies, where she now lives in a small community with her husband and dog.

Her large oils, mixed media watercolours, watercolours, photographs and drawings can be found in private collections in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria, Canada.

Juried exhibits include the prestigious Sooke Show in Sidney, British Columbia, and two Images and Objects Exhibits. She has also exhibited her work independently as well as cooperatively in group exhibits in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island and has received several awards for her work.
