I am a Dutch photographer based in Amsterdam. I get inspired by movement/stillness and emotion. Life is full of movement and tension. Sometimes different elements, like light, timing, expression, and composition and colors, unexpectedly come together and create a unique image or atmosphere. Life is never still, but photography is and therefore can capture these unique moments that can create powerful images. I studied Theatre and Dance Dramaturgy in university and after graduating I focused more on photography. In photography there are less dimensions and elements than in performing arts, but that simplicity gives it a unique quality that can be very powerful. I like to capture things as I see them around me, therefore I only use natural light and don’t or very little edit my photographs.
