Thank you for your interest in my photographs. My passion for birding and nature has taken me outdoors almost daily whether home in the USA, or on trips in East Africa, Israel, the Caribbean, and Brazil. I've been fortunate enough to have seen and photographed over 1000 species of birds, and I get a lot of satisfaction when I'm able to capture a beautiful and interesting shot and share it with others. I've had the honor of my bird photos recognized in prestigious competitions including 'The Top One Hundred' of the Audubon Photo Contest, the 'Honored Top 40' of the Nature's Best Backyards Photography Contest, and included in the 'Nature's Witness' exhibition of 47 nature photographs (selected from 22,000 entries to the National Wildlife Federation). I'm particularly interested in photographing bird and animal species that are endangered, so as to raise public awareness of growing environmental challenges.
Prior to becoming immersed in birding and photography, I was an open water swimmer and I successfully swam across the English Channel in 2003. My early professional life was as a biologist. I then practiced medicine until retirement several years ago. I hope that you find my photographs interesting and pleasing, and that they inspire you to be more inquisitive of the natural environment.
