NB Dude is a self-taught painter, photographer, and digital artist who grew up in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. After a short but unremarkable career as a professional golfer, he didn't really know what he wanted to do, but he took up painting to pass the time while recuperating from a nasty hockey injury. In fact, the first thing he ever painted was a giant watch on his elbow-length cast. In 2013, he was convinced by a friend and shop owner to offer his paintings for sale to the public. Lo and behold, people actually bought them. He's had the painting bug ever since, and has drifted into photography and digital art, both of which he finds fascinating.
Artist's statement:
I'm not really self-taught. No one is. It takes a village to nurture creativity in any artist/painter/photographer/sculptor, etc. I started to get curious about painting while watching a series called 'The Magic of Oil Painting' featuring William Alexander, the mentor of Bob Ross, the well-known creator of 'The Joy of Painting'. Art History was by far my favourite class in college and started me on my path as a painter, photographer, and digital artist. I read as much as I can about art instruction, watch videos from time to time, and take the occasional class. I hope you enjoy what you see here; it makes me smile. And I still like watching Bob Ross paint happy little clouds.
