Born 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas. Moved to Midland/Odessa in 1959. Attended Odessa Junior College, the Univ. of Texas @ Arlington. Studied aerospace engineering for four years but switched to English and Comparative Literature when NASA started laying off the year I graduated with a BA in 1971. Moved to a commune in California, and then traveled to Europe where I spent a year apprenticing in furniture making.
