The critical Ignacio Carballo Castle says of its work: 'The characters and the atmosphere of the mystery of each square corresponds to a perception that the artist maintains lusty of his very old land, and of his people. Also of the other worlds that, in a multiple way, have shaken the inner volcanoes of our prehispanic population. He paints universal characters.'
Jorge Porras Olmedo studied at the Faculty of Arts, in the Central University of Ecuador, where he was rewarded as the best student in the specialty of Painting and Engraving. Among their main exhibitions there is an outstanding collective sample: CIEN AÑOS DE LA PINTURA IMBABUREÑA, Quito, Ecuador; ARTE ECUATORIANO Y LATINOAMERICANO, Brussels, Belgium; ARTE JOVEN ECUATORIANO , Heidelberg, Germany; ARTE CONTEMPORANEO, Rigoberta Menchú Foundation, Leganés, Spain, among others.
The artist is noted for the experimental uses of ideas and materials, he investigates old techniques and renovates his creative proposals, and he has references as Gustave Moreau or Gustav Klimt, but in a special way the period of the Renaissance, through the prodigious work of Leonardo da Vinci. This, obviously, doesn't mean the ignorance to the intense contribution of the Latin American painters, of which he is a genuine representative.
