A love and appreciation for spending time in the woods got me interested in carving as a youngster, which spiraled into a lifelong infatuation with the interesting and unique grain patterns the history of a tree creates in each piece of wood I work with.   I let that unique character and shape determine the scene I burn into it.   Since one of my interests is growing trees and taking joy in watching them grow, I sustainably choose wood that is already down as much as possible, or salvage trees that must inevitably be cut anyways.   My skills in landscape painting, sketching, carpentry, and fine...more
