Jaime Harrison has lived in South Dakota most of her life. Drawn to the wild, open prairie as a child, she enjoys capturing the spirit of the souls that grace the plains. Her focus is on children and women and her inspirations are Mary Cassatt and the Impressionists. 'I have a strong connection with their art', states Jaime,'I love everything about the style - the impulsiveness, the color, light, mood - it is very inspiring'.
She started her art career in 2009 and found a tremendous passion for painting children and women. While she studied art in college, she decided to pursue a degree in Graphic Design and Advertising. 'I was busy with a marketing career for many years and suddenly I couldn't fight the urge to paint anymore'. She picked up a paintbrush in 2009 after her son, who was 5 at the time, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. 'I realized life is short and unpredictable and if you don't follow your passion now, then when?' Fortunately, her son's tumor was completely removed and was benign.
'We are all blessed with unique talents and gifts. We just need to take the time to realize them and then use them!'. Jaime lives in the Black Hills of South Dakota and is open to accepting commissions.
