I discovered, a long time ago, that painting and writing (mainly poetry and prose) allowed me to disappear from reality. Now, all these years later, creativity is a form of therapy for me. I still like to express myself with the written word - but I have now found that art and design have become my main outlets for my imagination.
Being able to immerse myself in another world, for a short time, brings me peace from the anxiety and panics of daily life. I use art as a pressure valve, and as an escape from my self containment - as, in real life, I am an introvert, quite reclusive, and love my solitude.
Whilst I do enjoy painting pretty scenery - I also like to explore the different facets of human emotion, including the darker aspects, which can be seen in my more personal pieces of work, especially the self studies. Through these pieces, I am understanding myself and human nature much more - so art really has become quite healing for me.
Most of my work is either acrylic, watercolour or oil based, sometimes combined with metallic leaf, pastels, pens and pencils - and occasionally enhanced digitally to bring the colours and texture alive ..... so I can make it look as much like the original canvas painting as possible.
I like to experiment with various mediums, genres and light, to be able to create different styles. I love learning new techniques, to stop me getting bored and complacent. My mind is constantly changing and discovering new things, so my work tends to focus on an eclectic mix of designs, which interest me. I hope they will do the same for you.
