I am an artist who was born legally blind because I have albinism. my eyes are very light-sensitive and cannot see detail. impress/Expressionist painting
this is an explanation of my vision. I was born legally blind which means my vision is considered worse than 20/200 when it is not corrected. The gigantic E on the eyechart is the magic point that determines if that is the best you can see when your vision is not corrected then you are legally blind. A person with 2020 vision could stand 200 feet away from a sign and see it and to see the same thing I would have to stand 20 feet away from that sign. as a result Idon't have a drivers license yet because roadsigns are so hard to read for me. Things like a menu that is hung behind the counter at a restaurant I cannot read. Referring to closer items most print on a page is too small for me to read so every time I read pretty much anything printed up or on my smart phone I have to use a magnifier. I also have nystignatism which means my eyes do not focus on one point at all which causes additional blurring . I have been told I have no depth perception although I think I have learned how to understand it through needing to draw perspective my eyes also do not have a black pupil instead it is a deep violet color. my pupils let in a lot more light than most peoples eyes therefore I wear sunglasses unless it is dark enough out to rain so clouded over that streetlights come on. when my vision is corrected with glasses it is closer to 2/120 just at the cut off that maybe I can drive. I think The way I paint was developed by me trying to adapt what I can't see. so much of what I choose to pay it is almost like what I would say through my magnifier because it is such a close up version of viewing the subjects or when I paint A wooded area I usually leave out The detail. I think my use of bright colors was developed over the harshness of true sunlight and how extremly vibrant everything looks to me especially outside. any portrait work that I have shared is all done by me holding a magnifier above the tip of my pencil through most of the drawing. I have asked and I know that my eyes cannot be corrected to typically good eyesight. I was very relieved to hear that I could have a surgery done at the time that my vision gets worse as I get older. that was probably the biggest relief I've ever heard.
so I I have come to a conclusion that due to all kinds of crazy circumstances and the experience of my life in the body that I have been given maybe one of the best things I can do is createit tremendous amount of artwork and share it with the world. by all means addressing the people who follow me on Facebook, when you share my artwork remember to put my name with it but absolutely emphasize that I'm legally blind and I'm a pretty accomplished painter despite the fact. I think I could definitely deal with a little bit of recognition based on that. thank you for any support. I will be back to painting this coming week I hope the holidays treated you well
