Gurukirn Kaur Khalsa has been an artist since she was a child. She attended the Ethel Walker boarding school in Connecticut where she focused her energy on the creative arts, especially painting and poetry. After boarding school, she attended Pomona College in Claremont, CA. and later transferred to the University of California, Santa Barbara where she graduated with a BA in Art in 1974 and received her Teacher’s Credential in 1975. Gurukirn Kaur, an artist and poet, pursues her passion for watercolor as a juried member of the Arizona Watercolor Association, Arizona Artists Guild, andTucson Plein Air Painters Society. She has received awards in juried shows from the Arizona Watercolor Association and Arizona State Fair. In April 2002, the Centennial Foundation of Toronto, Canada honored her for her artistic contributions to the Sikh religion. Most recently, Gurukirn has intensified her efforts in plein air painting, including taking a workshop in May 2010 with Gerald Fritzler in Colorado. She was part of the Inaugural Open Air Invitational at Yavapai College in Clarkdale, AZ in 2011. She enjoys painting the natural beauty of the national and state parks, and anywhere her journey takes her.
