Artist’s Biography- Evelyn Wolff
For 40 years, Evelyn balanced her career as a stained-glass artist, with the life of a physician practicing and teaching holistic medicine. Now she immerses herself wholeheartedly in her art. As well since retirement from medicine, she has written a memoir, Calming Dr. Twitch-A-Lot Vol.1& 2, and several art books. Moments of Wonder has 21 stories of how these pieces of glass were inspired by epiphanies in nature and life. The books are available at Friesen Press/Bookstore and on Amazon. Her over 40 years of Buddhist practice, chanting NamMyoHoRengeKyo have been a healing and guiding force in her creativity and life.
With an apprenticeship in the European tradition of stained glass, Evelyn combines a finely tuned color sensibility, with a flair for innovative design and engineering that stretches the limits of this crystalline medium. The radiance of the resultant art form is a reflection of Evelyn’s growing joy and dedication to life.
When not creating glassworks, she can be found at the YMCA swimming, at a gallery showing her glass, or teaching the basics of Buddhism. For adventure, in summer, she travels through the beauty of the Canadian northlands, sharing with far-flung friends; for rest and reverie, she goes to the cottage, swimming with Swan and the resident loons, or walking the woods with the wild turkeys. She winters in Mazatlan, Mexico in the company of friends, the blessed sun, and the warm ocean.
