I grew up in a small town in western NY in a house full of art and music.   My father was a graphic artist and I was inspired at a young age to draw.   But my first passion was horses, and after high school I pursued a career training and showing horses.   After nearly 40 years running my own boarding and show barn, I have retired and taken up my pencils again.   Colored pencils satisfy my 'anal side,' and I am drawn to the fine details of a subject as opposed to the whole picture.   I draw what I like, to satisfy my own need to try and capture a certain effect or...more
