I paint realistic colorful scenes in oils on location, to learn from nature.   Bold colors, strong shapes, dramatic lighting draw me to a scene in nature.   I paint both on location and in my studio in traditional or water-soluble oils (just as durable, but less toxic) from my own photo references and studies.   I've learned from many gifted instructors through the years, and put in my time at the easel indoors and out.   I teach students to paint and learn how to see through classes in my studio and at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center/Colorado College.   I write...more
