Welcome to my Painting Window to the World... Come on in and look around. Pour yourself some coffee and watch out for wet paint. My studio is an old greenhouse so it stays nice and warm in the winter. There are still plants growing in here but they don't mind that I share their space with them. My work area consists of four large tables with work stations arranged so that everything I need is within reach.
I try to paint every day. I love to use a variety of media and techniques. If I am not cutting out hand made stencils, I'm stamping images and shapes on college papers. I like to push the paint around with my fingers and then scrape back into it with combs, sticks, and things I pick up at yard sales and scrap yards. This keeps my painting loose and interesting. It's almost like child's play (exploring, discovering and applying what I learn). Thank you for visiting and I'm glad you find my art interesting too.
My paintings are studies in simplicity. They are about color and open space. There isn't anything complicated about my work. When I paint I'm playing. It's simple colors and shapes on paper. I'm not concerned about deep meaningful messages through my art. I don't want the viewer to feel intellectually alienated when they experience my art, I simply want the viewer to feel my playfulness.
I feel visual art should be like other forms of art in that when you walk into a room, your senses are moved by it. Just as one is moved by the aroma of food, the sound of music or the words of a poem; visual art demands to interact with us. When a bright-colored painting is covering a wall it changes something within us. When it's playful, it lifts our soul to a higher place. My art is simple and I paint for everyone, everywhere, at any age, at any level of education. We know all we need to know about something when that something stirs us from within.
