Artist statement
I love the spontaneity of watercolors and am motivated to paint by the amazing natural surroundings of the Pacific West Coast. My strongest connections are with nature. It is reflected in the colors I use and the subject matter that compels me to pick up a brush and paint. I enjoy exploring, drawing, photographing and painting the rugged Pacific West Coast. Always having had an interest in visual expression and nature, both of which were encouraged by my father from a very young age, I think about or do something creative every day.

Biography
I am a Canadian artist, born in beautiful White Rock, BC a town in the Pacific Northwest. I now reside in Burnaby, which is part of Metro Vancouver. I have been trained and employed as a graphic artist for more than thirty years and have moonlighted as a watercolor artist for just a long. .

I have extensive formal training in both fine art and commercial art including a diploma in Graphic and Communication Arts.

I have been selling my artwork in galleries and craft stores in the Pacific Northwest since the 1980's.

Favorite Materials
All the materials I use are the highest quality available on the market and of conservation calibre.

I use Winsor and Newton artist quality watercolors on Arches Cold Press Natural White Watercolor Paper and occasionally Canson Printmaking paper for my watercolor artwork.

Arches watercolor paper is a very popular with professional artists. It is of excellent quality, very durable, 100% cotton fiber content, acid-free, pH-neutral, gelatin-sized, and air-dried.

Canson Printmaking Paper is used by professional artists for drawing, illustrating, printmaking and watercolor. It is of excellent quality, durable, acid-free, pH-neutral.

Winsor and Newton Artists Water Colours are of the highest professional grade, rated AA or A for permanence and will appear the same for generations to come.
