Although Clay's interest in art started at a very young age. He got his training from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and work shops from
Frank Webb and Bill Vrscak. Frank Webb turned his head toward the love of watercolor, because of a demonstration Webb gave a number of years ago at a Beaver Valley Artists meeting. He also gave thanks to the Beaver Art Group and Joan Bobochak for keeping him active. He moved to Arizona and the Beaver Valley Artists made him an honorary lifetime member.
