My love of nature took seed during childhood where I spent many afternoons barefoot on the beach collecting shells and wiggly things.
That sand, the salty breeze, and California sun persist; nudging me to recreate the feeling they offered as a child. My appreciation and desire to paint began to flourish as I traveled across the United States, experiencing the local flavors from various small towns we passed through or lived in.
In my art, I endeavor to portray not only the physical but also the essence of the subject. To get that twinkle in the eye, the sweetness in the face of a child, or the softness of dew on a leaf - these things are the heart of the subject and I strive to paint them - bringing me one step closer to that warm remembrance of California sun.
