Barbara Runyon Fregia is the daughter of the late Clinton (Santy) Runyon, jazz musician and manufacturer of mouthpieces for saxophones and clarinets still sold today in Lafayette Louisiana. I believe talents run in families. My work consists of watercolors, charcoals, colored pencil, pastels, acrylic and oil on canvas. My future work will consist of some bar room scenes where my father played. I'm looking forward to posting four new works in oil. I have been a teacher of art for the Nederland art league and the Port Arthur art leagues for years and have won numerous awards. Also I have sold many works that are owned by art lovers all over the United States. I also am a recipient of the Grumbacher Award for use of my vibrant colors. If anyone would want to take lessons I have been a teacher for many years. And I will be teaching oil or acrylic on canvas at all levels of skill in Beaumont Texas. You can contact me at bjenerunyonart@yahoo.com. Come join my classes. We not only learn and create but also have fun while learning. It is my passion to create . I knew in fifth grade when the teacher let me out of class to create art on the principles bulletin board outside his office was the moment I realized I love art. Throughout school I won numerous awards. During the mid 60's I painted with black light paints, then took a few classes from local artists. I heard of an outdoors art show, very prestigious and painted furiously to have enough art to bring to sell. There I was a beginner next to professionals selling their art all day long. Not one of mine sold. I came home and put my easel and paints in the attic. Months later a friend from church came to visit and saw a seascape hanging in my den. She loved it. A few weeks later she called and asked if I would donate a painting for the church office. I thought she had lost her mind. I thought my art was so bad that I would be embarrassed. About a month later I donated a painting. At church the next Sunday people were surrounding me and complimenting that painting and asking if I would teach a class at church. That night as I always had I opened my Bible to a verse, a very special verse. ' It is better to be a live dog than a dead lion'. Ecclesiastes, Chapter 9 verse 4.has inspired me. I realized I had painted wanting money when the glory goes to God. And so my art career started and I have been very fortunate. Thank you for viewing my art.
