Art started in college for me and I never looked back. Settling on watercolor, acrylics, alcohol inks and gold leaf to create my art in many forms. Size doesn't matter and from tiny ACEO's to large canvases I try to brighten up my world with splashes of vivid color. To capture the brilliance of nature is my goal. I use color to draw you in, to look deeper into my paintings, to actually want to be there.
I continue taking classes and workshops with local and nationally known artists to further my understanding, to learn and explore new techniques and to have fun. I am amazed at how much there is to learn and the ways there are to express what we see. I'm fascinated with the rhythms, designs and the wonder of the blending of the colors of nature and I strive to show that in my work.
I paint traditionally and semi-abstractly in watercolor, incorporating mixed media into my work. I use acrylics in a bold, contemporary style to depict cityscapes, landscapes, animals and florals. The freedom of using alcohol inks is fascinating and frustrating bacause you never know what the interaction of the inks will be. I feel alternating between these mediums keeps my work fresh. The joy of pure color is the catalyst that draws you to look more deeply into my work. I find a freedom in painting abstracts that lets me explore and express my love of color.
I have been included in juried shows in and around Hendersonville, N.C., in St. Augustine, Fl. and in W. Palm Beach, Fl. I have had a number of solo shows and have received awards for my efforts. My paintings are in many private and corporate collections through out the country and in private collections in Ireland, Canada, Brazil and Russia.
