Akosua Sankofa is a self-taught Jamaican artist who enjoys the earthy texture, precision and expressiveness that pencil art allows. From an early age she was doodling in the margins of her notebooks and any spare paper that happened to fall within reach. Her current focus is creating representational art that invites the observer to pause and engage with the design, to 'feel' the textures, and to delight in the timeless elegance of nature, form, color and symbolism. She lives with her family in North Carolina.
