Hello, my name is Adrienne Hantz Kelley.
I researched how to write an artist/bio statement and read that you are supposed to list any professional training, and to list competitions that 'you've won, placed in, or even received honorable mention'. I will be listing them here even if I've been chosen as a finalist! I only entered one competition as of the day I am writing this description about myself. I have not been professionally trained in art but I did start taking and developing photographs when I was six years old: I was in the 'Gifted and Talented Program' in the small town where I grew up, and we had a darkroom to use there. I attended a school for the arts when I was in high school (with a visual arts focus in painting), and art was my major a few times in college.
Most of my initial listings are photographs of sunsets. For these I just wanted to capture beautiful colors or something in nature that I would never see again (that no other person would ever see again). Those exact colors and patterns in the sunsets will never be the same, and I wanted to have the images with me so that I could look at them always. They were the most beautiful, vibrant colors, and I was so lucky to be able to watch them.
Many of my other listings are photographs (with digital art backgrounds) of my English Bulldogs, Gus and Gert. I think they have the most adorable faces, so I take pictures of them often. I want to have large prints of all of them on my wall, and of the beautiful sunsets I used to see. I hope you will too.
