Hi,
I am happy to be a new member of 'fineartamerica'. Since I was young, art was my favorite pastime. Through the years, I learned different art techniques. My favorite medium was charcoal and pencils, sketching portraits; I liked the blending. I did metal art in high school, acrylics, abstracts, tissue paper art, ink, watercolor (hard to do), and oil pastels. I taught an art class to grade school children called 'Creative Painting'. I love doing art projects with my grandchildren and a young girl I mentor, and children in general.
I had a framed abstract photo displayed at the art center in our town. I sold glass art at a show that was sponsored by a glass museum. I made abstract glass magnets, plus other items. The museum bought some of my magnets to sell in their store. I started to like using glass and would pick up glass at
St. Vincent and other resale stores. It is fun making glass art that you put outside in a garden.
I took some college art classes, including art appreciation. It is so interesting to see work from famous artists; I like Jackson Pollack.
Now, I enjoy abstract photography. It is fun, because it is a surprise to see how the photograph turns into an abstract. At the same time, I am learning more about photography.
I like abstract art, because you don't have to be so perfect, and you can be creative. I would like to do more abstract art using acrylics (I did try a few). I don't like working with oil paint.
Every artist is unique and I love seeing others' artwork. Many people I know, do not like abstract art; my daughter, my sisters, my best friend, and even my husband. I guess you have to be the type of person that appreciates a mixture of colors, shapes, and creativity. Abstract art is more dream-like.
I hope to get better at doing abstract photography and would like to try it using other mediums. Art is like music too - everyone has different thoughts about what they like and don't like, otherwise, it would be a very boring life!
