I was 17 when the Valencia School of Fine Arts contacted me in North Miami Beach to study art at their school. So I left high school early and went out to school in magical California. I had only been there 10 months when there was a family emergency back in Florida. I had to go back and be near my father. This episode is what left a dramatic impact and influenced all decisions. All art I produced and what direction I really wanted to take. I had been a musician since I was a child and so I changed. I began in Music Therapy hoping to heal my father on an ethereal plane. I finally settled into Composition and Theory of Music at Florida State University where I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree.
However I have done art continually through the process.
I utilize the rapidograph and other technical pens, graphic pencils, no. 2 pencils and markers to do drawings that are mostly influenced by Zentangle. Repetitive lines or dots I use to describe shadowing and highlights. A lovely sort of meditation occurs while in process.
Paintings are watercolor and acrylic paints. Sometimes the influence comes from Cubism and Abstract where my 2 dimensional substance occurs.
