For the past 12 years creating nature mandalas is a personal quest. It further defines the joy I have had for the entirety of my life fascinated with and interpreting nature in pen and ink prints, animal doodles and cartoons and now full color representational nature mandalas and nature panels. My nature images cast an artistic eye on the real and imagined architecture of plants and animals. With vibrant illustrations and engaging visual narratives I invite you to wander in and wonder at nature's seemingly endless variety of beautiful forms through my use of graphic and symbolic patterns. I hope that my art will be considered not only FINE ART but also as FUN ART for CHILDREN and ADULTS.

Using color, texture and symmetry, I tell the stories of organisms and their roles in healthy ecosystems in visual form displaying their morphology, celebrating patterns, while implying interactions with other animal and plant species. My images are begun with a traditional pen and ink outline or digital ovals and then combined with self made textures of paint splatters, dots, squiggles, circles, ovals, lines, coffee stain and tie dye. NO AI is utilized. Of the over 1000 mandalas I have created over the past 11 years, many are included in four published books by Schiffer Publishing in 2016 and 2017 that have received very favorable reviews from the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, The Association of Medical Illustrators, and The National Association of Biology Teachers. Many are in private collections including 17 in two patient areas within the Johns Hopkins Hospital complex in Baltimore MD.

My kaleidoscope images are large enough to faithfully be printed up to 4 feet by 4 feet for your interior decorating ideas in larger spaces. Many of my rectangular nature panels are ROTATABLE and can be printed up to 6 feet long or tall (some even larger). Please join me in celebrating all that nature provides and fill your treasured spaces with color and life. I hope you will enjoy a fascinating eco trip into my inspired nature world and wander with wonder in nature where all things are BEAUTIFUL and POSSIBLE. For more information email: phelpsmandala@gmail.com and visit phelpsmandala.com for blogs about my art and process. I am open to accepting commissioned art and would enjoy creating illustrations for nature and children's books.
