The 'great outdoors' has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and 'truck camped' around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude. I worked at a Kaiser hospital for 34 years, then retired in 2013 at age 56 and hit the road, living in my travel trailer; I’ve been on the road now since June 2013 and plan to keep on living with no fixed address for at least another 2 years. I spend most of the daylight hours hiking and photographing with either the Canon 40D DSLR and Canon 17-55 EFS f2.8 lens (landscapes), or the Canon 7D and Canon 500 f4 L telephoto lens (wildlife, with an emphasis on birds). I try to keep the post-processing of my photos at a minimum; I like the viewer to see the scene as I saw it. Nature in most cases is spectacular enough without adding “enhancements”…So enjoy looking at the world through my eyes, as the highways, byways, dirt roads and hiking trails lead to images of spectacle and wonder.
