I'm Mary Lu, a college freshman and self-taught abstract artist. My passion lies with fluid art, incorporating methods like Dutch pours, flip cups, and dirty pours. I believe abstract art is much more than specks of color on a canvas. I pour my heart out onto my work, expressing my emotions through vibrant colors swirling, flowing, and blowing around on my canvas. I like to post little snippets about what inspired each painting in its description. Usually I am recreating something in nature, like the change of the seasons or the crashing of water, or representing a philosophical occurrence I observed amongst people, representing emotions and actions with colors and their path from one end of the canvas to the other. My canvas does not only consist of cotton stretched over a wood frame; I love working on any sort of surface to which acrylic paint will stick, like pickguards for guitars or magnets and phone cases. This platform is a way for me to use my passionate stress-reliever to earn some money to pay my tuition, which is what my profits will go to, minus what I stick back into purchasing art supplies.

I am currently working on my gallery 'Earth Laughs in Flowers', which draws its inspiration heavily from nature. This collection focuses on appreciating natural beauty. Nature has a calming and refreshing effect on people, if only we see it and let it. My mission with this gallery is to bring the feeling of the scent of roses and the sound of thrashing waves into people's homes, reminding customers to stop and smell the flowers once in awhile. You will also see a couple comic art paintings, which are just really fun to let loose and mess around with.
