Lori A Cash is an award-winning wildlife and nature conservation photographer who lives in Hampton, Virginia. She enjoys capturing the tranquility and beauty of wildlife and nature and sharing her vision with others. Lori hopes through her photography that others will gain a greater sense of appreciation for the natural world.

Lori specializes in fine art, editorial and stock wildlife and nature conservation photography. Lori lives in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, and being near Virginia wine country has inspired Lori to include vineyard and wine art photography.

Her images have been published in a variety of media including magazines including American Butterflies, Virginia Wildlife, Wildlife in North Carolina, Nature Photographer as well as other media including blogs, internet, newsletters, travel guides, Chamber of Commerce guides, television and newspapers.

Lori has always had a passion for photography, which began when she was a young child using an instamatic camera to take pictures of family. As a young adult, while stationed in Maine with U.S. Coast Guard, Lori purchased her first 35mm SLR camera, a Pentax K1000. During her time in Maine, she began photographing the beauty of the outdoors, sparking her journey into the world of nature photography. In the early 1990s, Lori entered her first photography competition which was held at the annual Lobster Festival in Rockland, Maine. She placed third in the scenic category with her picture of the Rockland Breakwater.

Lori eventually upgraded to Canon equipment. She continues to use Canon cameras today. While in college, Lori took a wildlife photography course, and it was through this course that her interest in wildlife photography blossomed. While she was taking this course, the class made many trips to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, and it was there where Lori’s interest in capturing wildlife, especially birds, developed.

Lori spent 21 years living in Northeastern North Carolina and devoted a lot of time to photographing nature and wildlife on the Outer Banks of North Carolina where she honed her skills as a wildlife and nature photographer. Lori served as the first Regional Coordinator for the Outer Banks Region of the Carolinas' Nature Photographers Association (CNPA) and was instrumental in setting up and organizing the Outer Banks Region. Over the years, Lori has won awards in several photography competitions including 2nd Place in the mammals category with her image of the deer among the wildflowers in the 2006 Wildlife in North Carolina Photo Competition, as well as 1st Place in the birds category, and 1st Place in the animal behavior category in 2007 Wildlife in North Carolina Photo Competition. Lori also placed Best in Show, 1st Place in the 2007 The Great Outdoors Wildlife Photography Contest, Honorable Mention in 2021 Keep Chesapeake Beautiful Photo Calendar Contest, Finalist in the Great Outdoors 2020 Photo Contest by Outdoor Photographer, selected as part of Virginia Wildlife Magazine’s 2021 Annual Photography Showcase, Grand Prize Winner of the 2022 Our Common Agenda Photo Contest held by Virginia Conservation Network, Honorable Mention in the 2021 Virginia Vistas Photo Contest in the Wildlife in Vistas category, Top 250 winner of 2022 NANPA Showcase Photo Competition, two images in the Top 250 winning images in the 2021 Share the View International Nature Photography Contest, selected as cover image in the 2022 Virginia Wildlife Magazine Annual Photography Showcase issue, category winner with 2023 Our Common Agenda Photo Contest and second place in the 2022 North American Butterflies Association Photo Contest.
