Joshua Hinson aka Lakey has lived everywhere from beach side, to back woods, to big city, from foster care, to homelessness, to high rise apartments, and now, traveling artist. Lakey drew daily as a child but stopped after grade school and didn't really revisit it until he turned 22 in '09. Now Lakey has over 100 pieces mostly ranging from 20 to 60 hours apiece and has traveled just under 20,000 through the US just off of his street art.

Lakey's art never starts with a plan, with little interest in drawing what he's seen in real life or in his head, he draws lines as random as he can comprehend. He generally avoids symbols, sacred geometry, rulers, or realism concentrating on letting the subconscious speak freely, then executing it as accurate as possible. The result is vibrant and intricate abstract art with a mixture of surrealism, cave paintings, and graffiti.

When the weather permits Lakey is out on his #SuitandTieTour busing around the country city to city with his art. He posts up on public sidewalks wearing a suit and tie, and draws beside an open portfolio and a card board sign saying 'Grandma says I need a job wearing a suit and tie, this is my compromise.' His sign is a protest to society, and a simultaneous countering of culture and counter culture that is meant to incite thought or inspiration instead of anger or fear, like many protest signs. The sign does not ask for anything, doesn't invoke negative emotions, and doesn't tell you how or why to do anything. The way protest should be. The way art should be.
