About the Artist - Bev Martin - In 1971, my husband and I moved our family to Fern River Resort, Felton, California where we have been privileged to live, work and raise our two sons.
I am mostly a self taught, story telling realist, attempting to capture and communicate something of life's precious moments in my paintings of people, animals, landscapes and nature. I love this special place where we live; Santa Cruz County; the stunning Pacific coast and sunny beaches of California, the awesome redwoods and fern laced river trails, country roads and meadows. Working in watercolor or acrylic, I am drawn to the interplay of light, form and color in the backlit tree, flower or child's face. The creative process is a journey toward discovery, powerful, expansive and healing. It is life revealed and hopefully expressed in a way that others may see and sense it's wonder.
I also accept commissioned portrait work of families, men, women, children, animals and places. My work has been juried into various venues including: Nature's Song, Scotts Valley, CA; Santa Cruz Open Studios Art Tour; The 79th Statewide Irreplaceable Places; Santa Cruz's First Friday Night; ISAP on line. I am a signature member of (ISAP) International Society of Acrylic Painters, Arts Council Santa Cruz County, and Santa Cruz Art League.
