Zebra Grazing

Painting - Oil Painting
Description
This painting is not at all what it appears to be. I originally took a photo of the zebra as it was grazing at Rancho Las Lomas, a wedding venue with a small zoo where my older son got married. The zebra stood in front of a feeding stall and definitely not on the Serengeti! Hence while the zebra is painted after the photo, the background is only my imaginations.
.........................................................................................
What captivated me to take the photo of the zebra and to paint is after is its tail. It appeared to be almost braided like a pony tail on top and let loose on the bottom as it swiped it left and right to chase the flies (I assume) away. I happened to capture the tail in mid swing and that captured my imagination.
........................................................................................
I also was amused by how fat the Zebra looked but upon looking at other zebra pictures in the open and free, most seem quite rounded--perhaps pregnant? Not sure. This particular one definitely looked pregnant to me.
...................................................................
This painting is using digital oils: what does that mean? Instead of stinky oils and thinners that are toxic to the artist as well as to the environment, I use my tablet and pen to paint on my computer. With modern tools and techniques everything is possible. Printed, you will see textures and my paint brush just like you would on a paint with fresh oil--minus the smell.

Angela Stanton replied:
Lol, yes, that may happen! You have a very vivid imagination! That particular opportunity did not occur to me when I painted this but you are very right! :)
