I love to listen to the music and as I do I often visualize the notes on paper--perhaps because I learned a little bit when I was a child. I was never any good at it though but I still like to listen to music of any kind, from modern to classical to jazz to blues, to new age.
I have been a painter all my life so painting comes naturally. While I used to paint in oil and other mediums, I now find comfort in the simplicity and lack of waste and lack of toxicity of painting digitally. This painting was created on my iPad as I was listening to music. It made me think of sailing and how the boat tilts just as I tilted with the rhythm left and right. I used the FlowPaint app and a stylus to behave like my brush.
iPad paintings are wonderful printed on metal or acrylic, since most are smooth and without texture--though some of the newer apps now are able to create textures.
