Description
I was going to go in and darken some shadow areas or wash over some of the petals in this piece with some pinks to make it a bit more interesting but decided to leave it in it's present state. I used Prussian Blue for the flower and Gold Ochre for the background and that is it (hence the title). I had to paint this piece over several short sessions due to the nasty bronchitis I seemed to have developed from something my children brought home from daycare (no I am not bitter). The original piece is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paints on Sennelier 140# cold-pressed paper and is 16"x12" in size.

Another beautiful flower. I am envious that you are painting right now. I am busy as all get out getting my inventory ready to go back up to the gallery next week and haven't picked up my brushes in almost two full weeks now. That is killin me. As well, I have been sick most of this winter and just SO DONE with it, so I understand what you are going through. Blue flower is great and I love the yellow background. Hang in there!
Ken Powers replied:
Thanks Sandra! Starting to feel better so I hope to start another piece on Monday!

Wonderful painting, Ken - so vibrant & full of life. According to your reply to Bette, guess you're not doing so good. Really sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself.

Beautifully painted, Ken! Good contrasting colors and I love all the shades and tones that really make this beauty pop. You are having a time with that illness - hope it clears up soon. I commend you because I can't paint if I don't feel well.
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Bette! I would have probably done a bit more with this one had I been feeling better but oh well! Going to go see the Doctor tomorrow to see if I can speed this sickness along.
