Tropic Fire 300
Artist
Sharon Williams Eng
Medium
Painting - Digital Photo Painting
Description
I discovered this display of tropical evergreens and ferns nestled beneath some palm trees near Sarasota, Florida. I loved the pop of bright red-purple in the, I think, red Ti plant among the other green and variegated flora. The spikey leaves of the Ti and variegation of the adjacent plants created a nice contrast. Florida has three primary distinctive areas with different growing climates: south (sub-tropical), central, and north. In addition, a fourth zone – tropical – is fairly small and encompasses the very southern region of the state. In the south zone, freezes are rare and many plants that can only be grown indoors further north thrive outdoors. Such is the case with this beautiful planting. This image, which has been digitally transformed into a painting with a digital application, is from my original photograph.
I am an exhibiting artist in southwest Florida (recently relocated from Hendersonville, North Carolina), and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains. I've even had a couple abstracts made into my personal cell phone covers.
