Description

This snow crystal is one of my all-time favorites, and one of the best snowflakes i've captured winter 2016-17. This is very large stellar dendrite, around 6 or 7 millimeters from tip to tip, with elegant structure and perfect hexagonal symmetry.

14 identical RAW photos, taken as fast series, was averaged to boost signal-to-noise ratio of final image. Background: glass with LED back lighting, external optics Helios 44M-5, November 2016, Moscow, Russia.

This is dark version, done with special post-processing. You can find original, light blue version of this snow crystal in galleries "All snowflakes" and "Bright snowflakes".
