Our Lady of Holy Hope Church is a quaint and picturesque Catholic church in Castine, Maine, which is in the Mic-coast region of the state..
Located on the scenic Penobscot River, a bit of which can be seen on the far right of the image behind the building, this charming country church is a wooden structure, painted white, with brick red roofs. There are three gold Celtic-style crosses on top of the deep garnet roof. One is over the door, one at the apex of another section of roof centered on the door, and the third is on the point of the right side of the roof.
Castine is a charming New England seaside village which abounds in picture-perfect scenes. It is one of the oldest communities in Maine. Like many New England villages, its historic charm can be enjoyed in its architecture, which includes local historic Inns and beautiful, well-preserved and maintained homes, on pleasant tree-lined streets. Castine is listed on the National Historic Register, and has more than 100 historic markers dotted around town. Its wealth and affluence are evident throughout.
This little church is a quintessential New England scene.
