"Mankind is obsessed with the concept of time. We spend time, make time, lose time, and measure time. Just look at the array of machines humans have developed whose sole purpose is to count and display the endless progression of hours, minutes, and seconds of each day. When I saw this antique clock so prominently displayed on the wall of a kitchen, I knew the occupants must have placed a great deal of emphasis on keeping time."
