Title
Little Hummingbird Gathering Insects

Description
This sweet little hummingbird, which I believe is a female Ruby-throated hummingbird, was gleaning insects off the tree leaves. I thought that was an interesting behavior as it stayed perched there for about 30 seconds sticking its beak onto the leaf.
Ruby-throated hummingbirds (Archilochus colubris) are common in the Summer season. They will feed on nectar from flowers and they also eat insects. They nest in trees or large shrubs and some nest as high as 50 feet. They camouflage their nests with lichen or dead leaves.
