Description
I saw this pretty Monarch butterfly land on the blue Gregg’s Mist flowers that grow wild in our area. Normally I see the Monarchs in Spring and in Fall, but when I photographed this one it was toward the end of August so they may be migrating south a little earlier this year. I am always happy to see these beautiful insects.
The Monarch Butterfly (Danaus piexippus) are so named because of their abilities as the strongest, smartest and toughest of all butterflies. They can fly for a migration to 2500 miles. They are large and can have a wingspan of up to four inches.
