Description

Morning light turns the waters of the Tongass Narrows to a glistening display of diamonds on the sea as our ship, the Pacific Princess, the Loveboat of television fame, departs Ketchikan, Alaska, headed for Vancouver, B.C.

A body of land, possibly Gravina Island, spans the frame in the distance, a swath of blue beneath a gentle pale-blue sky and clouds of pale gray and white. This image is mostly in tones of blue, with touches of white and gray, minimal in style. The original large-format photo has been given a painterly touch and cropped to the equivalent of an 8x10. It would be well-suited for a wide variety of uses, from wall art to products for your home, lifestyle, or office, and especially nice in a contemporary or transitional setting.

Soothing and serene, with no people or objects. Simply nature in splendid morning light, as captured from a cruise ship in Alaska’s Inside Passage.

Nikon D7100, Nikon 105mm/f2.8 Micro Lens, Hoya circular polarizer, and ND filter, shot outdoors with available light.
