Description

This northward leaning, unique vintage barn with it's scenic surroundings is located west of the small town of Crawford in the Rocky Mountains of Western Colorado. Colorful rock from the local area was built into the lower half of the barn walls creating a pleasing variety of textures. And, weathered gray pole fencing still remains, enclosing what was once corrals and pasture areas for livestock. Recording these beautiful old barns and barnyards of the area through photography and traditional painting methods has become one of my favorite pastimes. Many of these relics of the past have been destroyed by heavy snow, wind, and the freeze/thaw action typical of the higher altitudes in Colorado. Also, of course, owners who are bent on scratching out a meager living on tracts of land like the one pictured in the photo often determine that the ground on which these vintage barns stand would be more beneficial utilized in another way. So; sadly, they continue to disappear from our rural landscape.
