Bast Is In This Place
Drawing - Acrylic On Papyrus
Perhaps the most recognizable of the Egyptian gods, and beloved of children, Bast reaches for her kittens on this papyrus spell of joy and protection, reading Yew em bew pen Bast, "Bast is in this place." The lintel is decorated with her ointment jar, for protection from contagious diseases, and her sistrum, a precursor of the tambourine, that she uses as goddess of joy.
Originally painted on sustainable speckled papyrus in safe, modern equivalents of period pigments, this is an original design, not a reproduction, and not in the public domain.
