Vanaja's paintings have been exhibited in a number of juried shows where she has won several awards and sold many paintings. She has also undertaken several commissions for portraits of pets & people, and landscapes.
Her pet portraits (commissions) are vibrant, and clients just rave about them.
Her recent collection is of a 'domesticated cow', painted in a whimsical, humourous style. Daisy the cow, is always accompanied with her cat Spooky, and occasionally with Luigi the rooster! The story behind each painting is only limited by your imagination!
She is a member of:
The Art Guild of Scarborough (on the executive as the Exhibition Director),
The East Central Ontario Art Association (ECOAA),
The Central Ontario Art Association (COAA), and
Arts on the Credit in Mississauga (AOTC).
She devotes most of her time to her two passions - painting, and the study of astrology - creativity and science. The right side of the brain meeting the left side of the brain!
Artist Statement
Time flies when I paint, whether I am holding a brush or a palette knife. I travel extensively and take lots of pictures. I see beauty in nature whether it is in Eze and Collioure in France, Venice and Capri in Italy, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, or right here at home in Ontario. In translating them on to canvas, I revisit these places, often telling the stories of the people and place I encounter.
