As a teenager and young adult I was always the guy with an InstaMatic camera and a pocket full of flash cubes at family outings and get togethers. As middle age took over and life became more complicated, with two kids, a mortgage, car and insurance payments, groceries and on and on, my interest in photography took the back seat. But as the mortgages got paid and the kids grew up and left home life slowed down a little bit. In 2008 I got my first DSLR and started teaching myself how to use it. The more I learned the more enthusiastic I became. Now retired, I spend most of my free time taking shots and editing them. I've gravitated towards Landscape, Wildlife and Nature Macro photography, but anything is fair game!
I've enjoyed some success over the years with two of my photos used for the front and back covers of author Mary E. Dawson's historical fiction book, 'The River Way Home,' published in 2013 and available on Amazon.com. I've also done the cover and inside photo, in support of an article, for 'Indian River Magazine's' Fall 2014 edition. I have a photo in the 2018 edition of 'Fort Pierce Magazine - A Guide to the Sunrise City.' I have a photo on the rear inside cover of the 'City of Fort Pierce 2018-2019 Calendar.' In addition, my photos have been published in our local newspaper, the 'Stuart News,' over 300 times between 2009 and 2021. Two of my photos were used by a local printing firm in their 2018 customer calendars. Three appear on a local graphics firm's website. Many of my photos have been used over the years as cover photos for Facebook pages including the 'Riverwalk Cafe and Oyster Bar' in Stuart, Florida and the 'Palm City Chamber of Commerce' (Palm City, Florida). Several are used on the Stuart Heritage Museum's website here in Stuart, Florida. I have also been featured in many Groups here on Fine Art America. Two of my photos were accepted in the 2021 A.E. Backus Museum and Gallery's 'Through the Eye of the Camera' juried photography exhibition and were on display at the Gallery from May 7th through June 18th of 2021. In 2022, three of my photos were accepted in the 'Through the Eye of the Camera' at the Backus Museum and were on display from May 20 to June 24th. One of the three, 'Old Florida Morning' took one of the top four awards...'Best Film/Traditional RAW Photograph'as well as the 'People's Choice' Award.
